Revolution Truck

  • $ 5500

The Revolution from Other Planet is the first non-king pin truck to pass the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) technical inspection (June 2010, at the Maryhill Festival of Speed).

Until now, all skateboard trucks used some variation of the king pin design which was originally patented over a century ago. King pin trucks require a tradeoff between stability and turn-ability. This weakness is integral to this 19th century design.

Other Planet eliminated the king pin by allowing the deck mounted cam to roll along the hanger to create a skate truck that is naturally stable at high speeds while also having extreme turn-ability. By unpinning the hanger the Revolution gives a completely stable ride without requiring bushings. While the Revolution does not have a king pin, the hanger is held in the baseplate at an angle so that the axle rotates, causing the board to turn, when the deck is tipped.

Join the Revolution today and experience Out of this World Longboarding.

  • 21st century, state of the art technology
  • 185mm axle width
  • Strong and simple design
  • Out of this world turn-ability
  • Stable at high speeds
  • Super low ride height (more than ½” lower than drop through setups)
  • Massive deck tilt for powerful carving and smooth drifts
  • 4140 chrome-moly steel alloy zinc coated axle
  • Available for both 8mm and 10mm bearings
  • Precision machined 6005A aluminum alloy extruded base plate
  • Injection-molded glass filled nylon axle hangar
  • Change wheels in less than 60 seconds with only a 1/8” hex tool (with optional additional hanger)
  • Neoprene rubber parabolic cam
  • Precision built for strength and reliability in USA

The shape of the Rolling Cam affects the characteristics of the longboard trucks significantly and Other Planet has put thousands of hours of riding into getting our cam shape just right. A rider’s center of gravity rests on the wide, flat cam surface which provides a very stable ride when not turning. When a turn is initiated, the contact point between the cam and axle rolls smoothly away from the center and allows the deck to lean. Since the heavy-duty baseplate holds the cam and axle hanger at an angle the skateboard turns. Relaxing the turning force will allow the deck to fall back to center like a surfboard or snowboard.

  • Cam contact on the axle hanger allows for the lowest possible deck heights
  • Smooth effortless turning
  • Compressible rubber cam makes it easy to “foot-steer” and micro-turn
  • Predictable turning at high speed
  • Rides like your surfboard or snowboard (No need to push out of your turn as with king pin designs)
  • Extreme durability
  • Made in USA

The baseplate for the Revolution longboard truck from Other Planet is made from one solid piece of aircraft grade aluminum for maximum strength and durability. The 6005A aluminum alloy, extruded into our linked double triangle profile provides for exceptional strength. Each baseplate is then CNC precision machined to our exact standards, polished and hard coat anodized for durability.

  • One piece, linked double triangle profile aluminum for strength and durability
  • CNC precision machined and hard coat anodized
  • 4 hole base plate to accommodate the standard old school bolt pattern
  • black anodized

The last thing you want is for your axle to bend or break while bombing down a hill on your longboard. That’s why Other Planet precision machines each beefy axle from ½” diameter 4140 chrome-moly alloy steel. Each axle is then quenched and tempered to Rc-32 hardness and finally zinc plated. The ends are “turned down” to accommodate either 8mm or 10mm standard skateboard bearings. Use 10mm bearings for greater strength and durability. The axles are threaded for standard 8mm or 10mm standard axle lock nuts.

To complete the hanger the axle is then precision insert molded in DuPont Zytel® 8018 which is a toughened, general purpose DuPont “super-tough technology” Nylon-66 thermoplastic reinforced with 14% short glass fibers. This gives it outstanding impact resistance, stiffness, and dimensional stability. Zytel® is the DuPont trademark for many different nylon resins which, since their invention by DuPont over 50 years ago, have been the most widely used of all engineering plastics. They are tough, withstand repeated impact, and are highly resistant to abrasion.

The 8mm and 10mm axle hangers are completely interchangeable and will fit in any base plate with standard hardware. With only a 1/8” hex wrench the hanger (with wheels attached) can be changed in less than 30 seconds!

  • Precision CNC machined from ½” diameter 4140 chrome-moly alloy steel
  • Quenched and tempered to Rc-32 hardness. (Stronger than Grade-8 bolts)
  • Available for both 8mm and 10mm bearings
  • 185mm axle width (inside bearing face to inside bearing face)
  • Machined step so that speed rings (washers) are not required
  • Zinc plated for anti-corrosion and rust protection
  • Standard nylon insert axle nuts works with your skate tool
  • Precision injection molded glass filled ballistic nylon axle hangar
  • Extreme strength, durability and impact resistance
  • Axle width 185mm (measured from inside bearing face to inside bearing face)
  • Made in USA

The optional BUNA-N O-Rings let you customize the amount of resistance you feel when you lean into a turn and can provide some additional dampening. Customize your ride with 1 or 2 O-Rings on each truck or ride with none at all.

Team Rider Ian Anderson: “I usually ride without O-Rings, but when I plan to go over 40 or 45mph, basically whenever I put my downhill leathers on, I’ll add one O-Ring to the front and the back.” Others prefer two at all times. Experiment and see what you prefer.

O-Rings should last a long time but they will eventually weather or wear out. Each Revolution truck is shipped with a single O-ring mounted to each truck and an additional spare.
